State Key Laboratory of Multiphase Flow in Power Engineering
was ratified to establish by State Planning Commission
in February 1990, and completed in December 1992. Thereafter
the Laboratory passed the accreditation, and opened formally
to the outside in 1993. The Laboratory is attached to
Xi'an Jiaotong University. Now the director is Prof. Guo
Liejin, assigned by the Education Ministry's "Yangzi
River Scholars Rewarding Programme", from Xi'an Jiaotong
University, and the chairman of Academic Committee is
academician of CAS (Chinese Academy of Science) Xu Jianzhong
from Tsinghua University.

The Laboratory for Mechanical Behavior of Materials was
established on the base of Research Institute for Strength
of Metals founded in 1963 in XiĄŻan Jiaotong University.
The Lab. was supported by the State Education Commission
in 1986, and set up as the state key lab approved by the
State Planning Commission in 1990, having got the loan
of 1.5 million US dollars from the World Bank. In 1994
it was proved to be up to the standard and became open
to the outside world.

The laboratory for Manufacturing Systems Engineering of
Xi'an Jiaotong niversity was founded and formally opened
in July,1995,and passed the state examination in October
1995.It integrates three state key subjects:manufacturing,
systems engineering and management engineering.It aims
at developing computer integrated manufacturing and other
advanced manufacturing technologies.

The laboratory was established in 1991,checked and accepted
by State in Oct.,1995, and accepted through appraisal
by the Ministry of Education.It covers two key disciplines(
High Voltage and Electrical Insulation Engi-neering,Electrical
Apparatus).At present,the laboratory has quite advanced
facilities and good conditions for research work and cultivation
of graduate students,and for national and international
academic exchanges and research cooperation.It can compare
favorably with the laboratories of some advanced universities
in the world.
